What are Scenarios?

Scenarios paint the context of use of a product, service or system, extracting context-specific needs.

Why Scenarios?

Scenarios are used to extract and understand needs that arise specifically to the context of use of the product, service or system (PSS). Users are to react to predetermined scenarios. Reactions are observed to discover latent needs.

  • Scenarios

    • include extreme use cases that may evoke critical latent needs

    • describe the "Who", "How" and "Where"

Prepare & Present

  • Scenario cards or prompts to users while they are engaged with the product, service or system (PSS)

Observe

  • users' reactions and decisions, extracting latent needs, insights and foresights

Best Practices

Keep scenarios realistic

A.

Make sure the user should have experienced the scenario or a very similar one

B.

Ask explicitly about a specifically negative situation, and specifically positive situation
